Uncrewed systems

Drones and ground robots working together, and alongside crewed aircraft and ground teams, under one command picture.

Long term

Rendered visualisation, not live footage.

The challenge

Many systems, too few screens.

Uncrewed systems are becoming common, but each one usually comes with its own controller and its own screen. Coordinating several of them, alongside crewed aircraft and ground teams, puts a heavy load on the people in charge.

Communications are often weak or interrupted, and decisions have to be made quickly with incomplete information.

What Alethem does

Many systems, one picture, people in command.

Shared picture

Combines what every drone, robot and sensor sees into one picture for the people in command.

Coordinated tasking

Suggests which system should look where, so coverage is shared instead of duplicated.

Built for weak links

Prioritises what each system sends back when bandwidth is short, so the most important evidence arrives first.

Example cases

What it would investigate.

Searching an area

Several drones share a search area. The system divides it between them and reassigns coverage when one returns to recharge.

Confirming a contact

A sensor reports a possible contact. The system suggests the nearest drone for a closer look and gives the commander the evidence to decide.

Lost link

A drone loses its connection. The system notes what it last reported and adjusts the plan for the others.

Stage

Long term.

This is where the work leads. We're building the foundations now: the investigation loop, the safety envelope and the handling of weak communications.
